The Best Parcel

"You are still upset from me, right?"
"I never said" he replied.
"I could see that"
"Keep assuming things that aren't true"

And that's how she believed that her only best friend isn't upset from her any more.
It will be almost a year of their friendship, this next Sunday, and she was really excited for it.

"I couldn't wait for you to read those pages for you, your reaction is awaited, dude!"
"Well, I won't be there on Sunday" he replied and chuckles to her.
"Did you mean, you won't be there on the day we will be completing a year?"
And he agreed with sigh.
"Dude..."
Hangs up the call*

To be honest, she was kinda prepared for it. Because happiness wasn't something she received at ease.

On the night before the day he left the city, her phone's screen flashed with a notification,

"Will be leaving tomorrow, see ya soon"
"I will miss ya"
"Even I will" and the conversation ended.

And for the whole time period it was difficult for her to not see her "home" for so long, and she never said, but there was emptiness that she could feel in her heart with every second passing by.
Her exams were round the corner, and she tried her best to keep herself busy in those worksheets because she wanted an escape. But at the end of the day, whenever she looked up at the stars, it was always the sense of belongingness in her eyes.

It's 19th June '22, Sunday
It turns a year of us and I don't have the "only one I have got" by my side, she ponders. She wishes him
"Happy 1 year less than ALWAYS"
"I don't know where these days went, blessed to have you by my side, dumbo" he replied immediately.

And for the whole day, she didn't get any texts from him, and she was upset that neither him nor his texts were there to comfort her.
It's evening, around 7, she receives a call from her best friend.

"Listen"
"Yeah?"
"Where are you?"
"Studying, but why do u even care, huh?"
"There's a parcel for you downstairs, go get it"
"It's not April, c'mon"
"I swear, i m not kidding, grab your shoes and go downstairs, right now!"
Hangs up the phone*

She grabs her shoes, and tell her mom about some parcel waiting for her. Her mum smiled like maybe she knew what the post had.

The door of the lifts open towards the ground floor, and then it is the notification which woke up the screen, "Take the right and then straight up"
She followed the path and saw no one, she thought it was again a joke on her as usual. Her heavy heart now blurred her vision, she turns back and walks back towards the door of her home.

And then someone screamed,
"Some people don't even hug someone when come back after a long"

All the tears of pain didn't took a second to convert into the tears of happiness.

And for the first time,
They both had their eyes wet.
